live.

the show i directed and produced, Listen to Your Mother, was
8 weeks ago and i finally wrote a little recap and gratitude post yesterday
on our local site. i mentioned that i felt like it was like delivering my 10th baby
and i was finally coming out of the 6-8 week recovery phase and post-partum fog.

you know the wonderful bliss of your baby finally arriving, but the exhaustion
and relief that comes, too?  i remember my friend and our last 2 years'
director, stephanie,
mentioning that she was looking around for her post-partum doula and
casseroles?!  YES.

despite that, i'm so proud of the show & so thankful for this movement.
our little community gave a microphone to 15 mother stories--hilarious ones,
heart-breaking ones & heartfelt ones.  they join hundreds of other stories
from around the nation.  you can watch our show on the northwest indiana
playlist or browse around the LTYM YouTube channel to view stories from
the other 23 cities.

as director and producer, we are encouraged to read a story as part of the
cast, too.  so, even though listening to your own voice is always horrifying,
i'll post mine here.  i adapted this piece that i wrote for the Sling Diaries
on beauty.

i hope you'll be able to watch the others though--i still laugh
at the mere thought of some of them and get teary thinking of others.
i'm in awe of the wide range of emotions, lives and stories that make up this
beautifully hard, wonderfully blessed thing called motherhood.
many you be inspired and, just maybe, begin writing one of your own motherhood
stories to share.

Thank you to my cast for sharing your stories.  I'm thankful for each of you.
Thank you to our local sponsors for making it possible:
