sling diaries :: discovery

what better time is there to be a baby eager to discover than at
Christmastime? twinkling lights, shiny ornaments, sweet songs,
wide eyes.  it really is magical.  i love watching emelia & evie
discover new things, but i think i'm the one discovering even more
this season.

discovering how to slow down--even though i thought i already was.
how to embrace the imperfect.
how to be content because of my circumstances, not in spite of them.

as each of our nine children has been added to our family,
i've rediscovered the beauty that this life isn't really about me at all.
i freshly remember that everything good thing is from Him and
discover that life just works better when i live in appreciation of that.

i've discovered that this act of mothering, it is my worship to Him right now.
dying to self and delighting in them.  and, oh, it is messy and sloppy
sometimes.  there is failure, yet forgiveness and grace and growing.

there is beauty in the everyday--
in the seemingly monotonous.
there is joy in the small.
if only we take time and discover it.

I would love to know what sling you would recommend for a 20 month old?

    1. hi krista! for me, the most ideal thing would be to have a ring sling [like the one pictured] and an Ergo. those are my 2 favorite and both work better at different times/in different situations. you can use a ring sling like this until somewhere around 35lbs [check each sling]...you just hop them on your hip. [others in the Sling Diaries have bigger kids & you can see positioning.] it's quick and easy. the Ergo is perfect for longer periods of time.

  10. So, so beautiful- you, these words, those beautiful baby girls, and your whole family. I'm so grateful you choose to share part of yourself in this little space. You've been SUCH a blessing to me.

  11. As a mom of twins, I am super impressed at your ability to wear your daughters! I had a c-section with my duo, who weighed a combined 14.5lbs, and that, coupled with my torn disc, made all the heavy work of two babies very, very painful. But you looks so good wearing them, and it is obvious they are content in mama's arms! I am encouraged to try my sling more with baby #3, being delivered via c-section on Monday. And how you regained your figure so quickly is beyond me! Well done!
