[a different kind of] party.

if you've been reading here for some time, you know that i'm so thankful for
the ministry Sixty Feet and have worked with them on several occasions to support
the imprisoned children of Ugand a.  i know that those words shouldn't go together--
imprisoned children--
yet, they do.  for these children, they do.
[if you're not familiar you can click to their website & also my tag at the bottom of this post.]

Sixty Feet has developed a relationship with these children and though there is much
still to do, they have gotten many of them clean water, food, medical care, school fees,
and most of all, begun to show them Christ's love.
in their work, they have discovered more of these remand homes and while i'm in-country
we thought it would be so wonderful to throw them a party.

to have you all throw them a party!

i've been so struck [and convicted] of how different a party for them will be than
one that we would hold in the western world.  this is not about cute, coordinating
flags and cupcakes & plates that match a cartoon theme.  this isn't about sweets piled
into beautiful glass jars to choose from.  it isn't about 14 different drink choices and
gifts stacked high on a table.

we are talking nutritious food that they do not have the luxury of regularly receiving.
i'm sure it will even be the very first time that some of them have eaten some of these things.
so, here's the plan:  in about 24 hours i will head out with our boys, some friends and the
Sixty Feet team will travel out to 'M'.  we will be picking up chickens and slabs of meat,
beans, rice & i hope some fruit and juice along the way.  we will have a party at 'M' and there
will be 2 more parties at 2 of the other remand homes on the subsequent 2 saturdays.

these children will range from 0-18 and this will be a simple tangible way to love
on these precious kids and show them love.  i'll, of course, be there documenting and
i can't wait to show you what God has done through you.

if you'd like to join me in throwing them a party just click the link below and
the donation will go directly to Sixty Feet for them to get the money to the team here.
for the 3 parties, which will be somewhere around 800 children,
we will need to raise about $750 in the next 24 hours.

thank you, friends.  so honored to partner with you and Sixty Feet.
whatever you have done for the least of them, you have done for Him.

YOU all raised enough money for SIX of these parties
that will be raised in the weeks to come.  thank you for
showing these children love.  thanks be to God.
also, the date of the first party had to be changed
to October 1st.  pictures to come!

  9. Love this! When I think about what my children "deserve" knowing what most children need so desperately around the world is so challenging. Enjoy the party and may these children see Christ feeding and celebrating them through you.

  11. Just wanted to let you know we donated last night- it was the perfect way for us to celebrate our 2 year old's birthday! And wouldn't you know, big sister got sick later in the night so we cancelled the party today. Glad to know some others got a much more needed party!
