the show.

so, the big show was saturday.
oh, how i wish you all could've been there live!
seriously...i'm so glad it will be available online & i truly
hope that it captures the energy in that space on video.  because this night?
seriously so fun, so inspiring, so validating, so precious.

i hope that Listen to Your Mother continues to grow & grow--
sweeping across the nation & even internationally.
what an awesome dream Ann had when she thought this up
and i'm so proud of each person that made it happen.
i'm so honored to have been a part of it.

i tried really, really hard not to be dramatic in the weeks & moments leading up to
that moment on stage, but can i just tell you that i was dying?
like--literally i want to puke and whatonearthhaveigottenmyselfinto dying.
even as auditions were held, i tried to talk myself into anything else,
but auditioning.  surely my precious friend, stephanie [the producer & director]
would appreciate my help with many other things.
i tried to quiet my story.  so silly!
especially realizing how each & every other story impacted me so greatly.
in the end, my story was told & i'm grateful.
i have felt very vulnerable the last couple days, but
i'm trying to be okay with that.
i hope that letting so many people into the very core of my heart
impacted them the way that so many other people's stories in my life
have impacted me.
God has used so many people to make me exactly who i am.
i love that.
i'm thankful for their journeys & testimonies.
i pray that mine will do the same for someone.

it was ridiculous fun to do this with stephanie.
thanks for believing in me & my story, friend.
i am so grateful to have you as one of my biggest
confidants, greatest cheerleaders & closest friends.
so proud of you for dreaming & then acting on it!
what a night to remember.

  1. Lovelyn, your story was so remarkable and beautiful, especially how you told the story of so many who don't have a platform like this. And you represented them with respect and compassion. It meant so much to me and everyone there.

And it was great fun to get to hang out a bit!

  8. I already knew some of your story and yet, the tears and helplessness hit me right in the gut and heart as if I'd never heard it before. That's how powerful your story is. I'm so glad you told it and I hope you never stop.

  10. I'm with Erin. I knew this but there was something more about what you said and how you spoke. Directly from the heart.

Brian and I laid in bed that night talking about you, what you've witnessed, the children in Uganda. Your words were so very powerful, Lovelyn. I am beyond proud of you.

I'm glad you didn't have to break out the old cleavage.

  11. There were only a few stories that made me stop and think. That made me want to go home and sit with the message and decide what it meant to me. Yours was one. Thank you for sharing. What a great, great night.

  13. Lovelyn, you are beautiful inside and out!! Where ever we travel, whatever we see, God always makes sure we hear what we need to... even if He has to repeat it! You contributed the soul of someone else and I think that is amazing!

  14. Like I told you after the show. You did a beautiful job. I brought my 18 year old daughter and she could not stop talking about your message. She is the next generation. She is someone that can carry your story in her heart until she can make a difference. From one mother to another, I thank you. You have touched her heart.
