treasures.

handmade cards, hugs, hot coffee are tops of my mother's day
wish list.  the only other things are individual pictures with the kids
and a group picture with me.  i got all those things today--
plus some gorgeous flowers--and i'm so grateful.

i had this moment during this [really awesome, busy, important, fun] weekend
where i was overcome with the awesomeness of the mundane of being a mom.
on friday i was running errands with kids in tow, collecting library books like i was
somewhat  responsible, taking care of invoices, playing Simon Says, feeding little lives,
foregoing a pedicure [and a shower!] to take a child to ER, in charge of a [7 tickets away
from being sold out] live show, nursed my babies in the backstage dressing room,
watched in awe as the cast stood on stage and told their motherhood stories,
sighed with relief as the audience cheered [and gave a standing ovation!],
then ran to the grocery store to pick up fruit for the morning.

i mean WHY am i trusted to do these things?  when did i become a grown up?
how am i so blessed to be called mom by these nine treasures?
this journey as a mom is filled with so much joy, so much fun, so much love--
and so many mistakes.  it's hard.  there are times that it's terrifyingly hard,
but i trust that grace and love are big enough.
i just read this quote and i believe it whole heartedly:

be gentle with yourselves, mamas.  give them love & grace--and
yourself, too.  stop and enjoy.  go and have fun.  how quickly
this is all racing by?!

happy mother's day.

[love and special prayers for those of you without your children in your arms
and those of you who desperately want children in your arms.]

  6. "when did i become some a grown up?" i've been so feeling that this year. i recently turned 32, i have four kids, and it's only recently that i feel like such a grown up. i've even spotted my first fine lines! :0 with my oldest now being 8, he's really becoming such a mature boy and i can feel the change. it was weird at first, but i think it's really, really good.
    happy mother's day.
