painted.

bianca paints her nails everyday.  maybe twice a day.  three times
on the really great days.  i bet there are epic days in her mind, too, that i don't even realize
that she's painted them 17 times. she likes to do it herself and she's pretty darn good
at it.  when she does ask me, i try very hard to stop and take the
60 seconds that it takes to paint her tiny nails.
i may not do it the way i would want to--remove all the old polish,
file them & apply 2 coats with a clear top coat--but she doesn't care.
she's 4 and she just wants her nails painted.

i do it without sighing and without excuses because i've done those and what
do they say?  they say that she's less important or annoying or anything
except what she is. she is God's workmanship and the last thing i want to
do is squash her spirit--even about something that may seem trivial.
i type this to remind myself.  this doesn't come easy for me some days.
i'm trying to be more intentional about it with each person
in my life because i want them to see a bit of God's love in me.

He never tires of my requests and delights in me.
He gently leads and loves me exactly as i am.
He always has time and loves extravagantly.
i want to love like that.

For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus
for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

  4. Yes!!!! I have been trying the same thing with my littles. Having a completely different attitude, it was hard at first but it has become much easier and I can see how differently my kids approach each other as well.
