sleep in heavenly peace.

i'm usually the light lady.  i like a lot of lights.  my mom was always the
same way.  i remember her being so thankful when i took interest in learning
her method to get the most lights possible on a tree.  i know now how much
work it is. [especially when you have a 87 foot tree.]

this year, my all or none personality
wasn't coming through in a timely manner--i have to be ready
to tackle the light project.  so, my sweet husband asked how to do it and
then did it.  i love that about him.

we turned Christmas music up really loud tonight & decorated the tree
in silent worship.  nico has asked a few times, why do you have to get such
a big tree?!  i don't really have a great answer.  i just like them.  it's tradition.
it's majestic to me. beautiful. pointing to His glory.
matt asked him if he thought he'd cut down Christmas trees with his family someday.
in his ridiculously sweet ugandan accent he replied, probably, but small, i think.
fair enough.

right now, the twins are just like in the picture, but i hear them starting
to stir.  they have been mesmerized by the lights.  i think i'll feed them
in the quiet by the tree and then finish the top half of the tree.
hope you're having a great week, friends.

  3. Please share the secret! I love the look of tons of white lights too. We've never had a real tree due to allergy issues, and our pre-lit one, while pretty nice, just doesn't have enough lights for my taste. What does one do to get the most possible lights on a tree???

    1. well, we just basically use a LOT of lights. we put them all the way in right next to the trunk and then work our way out wrapping [almost] every branch. sometimes in dense areas, i just ball up the lights with extra slack and set them there. good luck! =)

  4. Oh wow, it's so beautiful. Here in NZ, Christmas is in the summertime, so we have to wait all evening for our room to be lit by the Christmas tree lights when the sun finally goes down! Me and the kids will be putting up our tree today - we're excited too!

  5. I discovered, and got (happily) lost, in your blog today. What a beautiful family! We are a homeschooling family in WA State. We have 3 bio kids and are waiting for our first adopted child to come home from Ethiopia. Thanks for the encouragement I received from you today!

  6. Your tree is gorgeous! I agree with Stephanie -- It DOES look like it's floating.

Is it too early to say Merry Christmas?

    Merry Christmas!
