complete.

i'm late with my 9 on 9, but wanted to get it anyway.  i'll go back and
backdate it, but wanted to share.  our kids are rad--so thankful for them.

i got the neatest e-mail today.  remember my 31st birthday project where
you all raised $5,000 for a clean water well?  charity:water chose Engeleb
village in Ethiopia as next in line for who needed one & it was just completed.
i received pictures today.  thank you so much for everyone that gave &/or
spread the word about the project.  these people were drinking dirty water
before and now look. i'm humbled and so very thankful for each of you.
we asked for help and were answered.
answered by people like you.

then, last year, on my 32nd birthday, i told you about Busoga.  that
was the village that our son, Nico, had visited and it made such an impact on
him that they did not have clean water.  he took me there and we prayed out together
for the Lord to help them.  they were literally drinking swamp water that they shared
with their animals.  [like so many people around the world do.]
we decided that the Lord wanted us to help them.
we asked you for help and you answered.  in 13 days, the well was funded and
just 3 months later, our family was on an airplane across the ocean to
see the completed well.  we rejoiced with the village of Busoga and told them
that it was out of the Lord's great love for them that people all over the
world had made this possible.
those people were you.

well, guess what?
tomorrow, i turn 33.
i want nothing more for my birthday than to give it away for
the Lord.  to answer a calling for my brothers and sisters around the
world that need our help.
i pray that you'll join me tomorrow in spreading the word and in giving.
sending you so much love.  i'm humbled & thankful for this space.
see you tomorrow!

[i'm running out the door, but will link to the above projects later when i have time
if you want to read more about them.]

  7. Your blog inspires me. I feel overwhelmed at the thought of how I am going to pull it off but I want to do something like what you've done with your birthdays on my youngest son Sterling's birthdays. Sterling died at the age of 13 months 2 weeks and 6 days from undiagnosed congenital heart defects. This October 13 he would have been 2. Our hearts are broken by his absence but we are trying to live life knowing that Sterling can and will still do great things through each one of us.
