today.
our two oldest kids were baptized today. baptism is a visible sign of the invisible
grace that they both received several years ago when they chose to accept Jesus
as their Savior. i am thankful to know chloe's journey well as she made her decision
as we peeled potatoes together & has faithfully grown in Him since then.
i am so thankful to each person God used in bringing nico to know and love
Him. his stories are precious about how he came to know the Lord and remind me
never to discount the way that He may want to use you in the life of a child--or anyone.
being a Christian isn't about being perfect, it isn't about having the chance to do wrong
& it being wiped clean with certain words or acts, it isn't about a one time prayer
in our hearts that doesn't radically change the way we live.
it is grace. freely given. that grace and love compels us to love Him & others in return.
not because we have to, but because how could we not do our best to extend the love
and grace that have been extended to us? and as my friend, shauna, said as she rejoiced
with our family, there is no greater joy than to see our kids come to know the grace
and love that has been extended to us!
that is truth. there is no greater joy!

ReplyDeleteYay!! My son was baptized just a few weeks ago and we've begun the journey of realizing that we still make mistakes and learning how to forgive ourselves. It's been precious to watch him grow in Him as well, and to watch him start to teach his other siblings about Jesus love for them.
