in my heart.
i had to be in bed a lot today recovering from a rough night of sick & little sleep. i spent some
of the time trying to organize photos on my laptop & ended up at the ones from our family
trip to uganda this past february. i actually didn't end up taking many pictures. i was 10 weeks
pregnant with the twins then & 10 times more sick than now, but matt captured this one.
one of the jajas, luganda for grandmother, wrapped my hair up for me like they keep theirs
often there. we were in a little village visiting friends. our kids joined the others as they played
hand games on the red dirt, climbed a jackfruit tree & sang songs to the beat of their hands
on jerry cans that are used to collect water.
our kids ask all the time when we can get back to uganda. i feel them. it's amazing how
a place is in your heart. people often ask how we ended up in uganda. we did tons
of research and nothing ever just clicked. i can remember sitting at my computer one night
and the page opening up to a picture of ugandan children. it clicked. i just knew. i called
matt over & he said, that's where our kids are, huh? i didn't even know if adoption was
possible. heck, i didn't even truly know where in africa it was! i'm so thankful. selfishly,
i needed it more than it ever needs me.
