fair.

We won’t arrange [our children's] lives in a way that prevents them from practicing humility, patience, love and service – as a lifestyle, and not as a “once in a while” thing. We won’t shelter them from knowing the depths of injustice and despair in this broken world. And we won’t shield them from growing a desire to get up and do something about it. -- Shelly on 'Is this fair to my kids?'
shelly gracefully, beautifully put into words my heart on this issue of
the fairness to our children as our lives don't look like much of the Western
world expects them to.  our kids have far to go.  so do i.  we are walking this
for Him.  may we remember that with every breath and practice humility,
patience, love and service with joy as a lifestyle.

shelly has become a dear friend, but the way i 'found' her is because she's one
of the Sixty Feet girls.  the way her family [and the others] have been Jesus to
those precious children that are imprisoned & been obedient with their lives
blesses me and challenges me beyond belief.

they, at Sixty Feet, have a big dream for this Christmas.
a dream that makes me well up with tears of hope.
they have a dream to raise $60,000 this season and it will all be matched
for a total of $120,000!
you know where that money is going?
to get those precious kids, the youngest & most vulnerable ones for now,
out of prison and to a home.  a piece of land, a home, sustainable living,
hope.

would you be willing to buy less things this Christmas and redirect some of
your funds to help?  read about Redirecting Christmas here with the link
to donate at the bottom.
we'll be sitting down with our family and talking about this.
could they each have at least one less toy in order to provide a way for
these children out of prison and to a home?

i can't wait to visit that home someday.  to see those precious treasures again,
but this time flourishing under consistent care, guidance and love.
this is going to be good.

  1. We are having the same discussions. Going there in April, so it is good to show the kids that it's for real!
