hi friends!
remember when i had a birthday dream of building a fresh water well
and you sweet people allowed yourselves to be used in a big way?
remember when i posted it on October 10th of this year and
13 days later it was fully funded?!
$5,000 & a village of people will have a fresh water well?!
God is amazing.
well, tonight 20/20 is featuring charity:water on ABC at 10pm ET.
i rarely turn on the TV, but you can bet the DVR is set!
you should watch! so many of you were part of this...
whether is was the dollars that you gave sacrificially
or by helping me spread the word,
you are part of this movement that
says that 1 in 8 people in this world not have access to clean water
is not okay.
if you were one of the contributors, charity:water will soon
send us all an e-mail at the end of this quarter letting us know
where exactly our well is going & let us know how we can actually
see it at some point with the help of GPS coordinates & Google Maps.

i'd love for people to share here in the comments: if you knew of
the water crisis, how it affected you, if you did a project or something
in order to give, a sacrifice you made to contribute OR
anything you'd like to share!
i'd love to hear your stories!
i know that my family & i definitely take our clean water for
granted and i'm thankful how this opened each of our eyes a little
bit more. it was humbling to watch the children bring us their change...
change that some people would just leave on the ground if they had dropped it...
and to watch it quickly add up. in no time they would have a dollar.
and a dollar? well, that can give an African clean water for a YEAR!
please share here.
then, you should check out this awesome project going on for charity:water here!
and tune in tonight!
thank you for believing in my dream, sharing it & making it happen.
i hope so much to visit our well someday & the beautiful people it will serve!

Our son was adopted from Ethiopia July 2009. He was 3 years old; he will be 5 in February.
ReplyDeleteWhen he is in the mood, he will talk about his time in Ethiopia openly. Just today he told me in Ethiopia he only had dirty water to drink. He didn't like to drink the water that was from the ground because there were "tadpoles" (I'm sure you can imagine what they really were) swimming in there.
I just recently came across your blog, and I love it. Your post today really hit home. It's so easy to take simple things like clean running water for granted. Having a family member who has experienced the alternative really makes a difference.
Thank you for what you do.

I am in the middle of a campaign to build a well myself. I heard Scott Harrison, from Charity: Water speak on a podcast and was so moved that I instantly knew that we should raise the money.
ReplyDeleteSo, it's our project for the next few months. I think it's amazing what can be done with such a small amount of money. I mean, individually, we might not have $5,000 dollars, but together that can add up so quickly.
I'm so excited to watch tonight.
Here's the link to our project too:

But however we can help people get clean water is good and exciting to me!
Bridger is still plugging away at raising money for his well! On Tuesday, we have a reporter coming to our house to interview. We love, love charity: water so much. Our DVR is already set!

I just caught the tail-end of it tonight, but I watched about the horse bringing HIV meds to the women and children of Africa. It's so cool. Love, I am so glad that you asked up to help 2 months ago & I am so glad that I did! I'm eager for more!
